02:52 pm: Happy New Year, Valentine's Day, Family Day!
Hope all is well in the land of LiveJournal!

I'm still pretty much up to the old "same old".

Terry is in a production of Evil Dead: The Musical". Going up in March at the old Alumni Theatre at Carleton U.

Normally I would be at work on a Monday, but it's "Family Day" today. I spent it finishing my laundry and paying bills. Oh and I tried out a new skin cleanser that Terry got me for Valentine's Day.

*sigh*

09:34 pm: Hello!
Watching people play Rock Band right now. Sounds good.

I sit and watch the happenings around Richie's house...

There a monkey humping the fridge door.

Richie's butt is facing me as he's leaned over a chair.

Joy is singing.

Josh is sitting almost shirtless playing drums.

Patrick is dancing and drinking pop.

Shane's on lead guitar.

Terry takes his bass guitar seriously.

I'm drinking pepsi.

09:10 pm: Lots happening!
March: Dad had a heart attack, had a quadruple bypass and is recovering very well!

April: I've been declared surplus at work. Means I won't be at my school next year due to a decrease in student population and my being low on the seniority list at my school. Must apply to another school. Not to worry... someone out there in my board is looking for French Immersion teachers!

Too many birthdays!!!!!!

May: Going to enjoy a fun filled weekend with the girls I knew when I lived in Uxbridge! It's our annual thing!

also my time to hate report cards again!

June: My last hurrah at my school.

July: Visit to NB. Days to be determined. Here's hoping I don't have to take any courses this summer! Will hopefully move the last of my things from Fredericton to Ottawa!!!

August: 2 weddings! Involving 2 dogs, a cat, and a sheep! LOL!

September: New beginings!

October: Robyn and Scotty's wedding! Yay bridesmaid again!!!! I was once a bride, twice a bridesmaid! I defeated the old saying!!! woohoo!

That's pretty much it for now!

09:19 pm: I survived!!!!
Another term of report cards!!!!! And you know what? I think I've conquered my anxiety for now! Could be because I've finished writing them but who cares?!?!

We'll see what term 3 brings...

Hmmmm.... Bubble bath? sounds good right about now!

09:59 am: Will I survive....
REPORT CARDS?!?!? I think so... I've always hated writing them! Takes so long. Always scared something will go wrong in the process (technical difficulty, principal having questions about my reports... though in the last few years, they've not been scarry questions that make me feel incompetent... so that's a good thing!!!)

Terry's working later than expected tonight... scheduled possibly until 8 PM.... More time with fewer distractions!

I'll get back to them now... right after I shower and get dressed! And brush my teeth. I hate that pasty feeling on my teeth... okay okay, I'm gone!

11:22 am: Ever wonder????
Do you ever wonder how many people are your friends only by association with another person, and who are truly your friends no matter who is associated with you? If I stopped being associated with certain people, others would stop being my friend because they wouldn't feel like they could be my friend anymore. Or would they still be my friends? I want to be friends with as many of them as I can... Sure I lead a very busy life, but I'm not so untouchable that a friend can't call me and ask me out for coffee "just because".

I wrestle with this question often...

06:39 pm: Family Day....
Aren't the other holidays meant for spending time with family and friends? I guess it's going to fall under my previous argument for Valentine's Day... highlight that day that reminds us not to take them for granted...

Thoughts?

11:42 pm: 10 days to Valentine's Day!
I grew up with the idea that it's important to commemorate the things in our lives we take for granted the rest of the year. Makes those things, events, people that much more special and meaningful... Don't you think?

03:06 pm: New Year, New Start!
I don't know about Terry, but my new year started off with new hair and a fresher outlook on life and myself! I love me for who I am. I don't have to be a teacher 24/7. Only at work... and I'm good with that! I have a right to my humanity, while keeping my dignity when it's needed. I see my friends and family in a different light. Likewise on their part. I've had quite the Epiphany!

10:39 pm: Christmas is coming!
Yay! It's almost here! I can't wait!

I love looking at the snow! It's pretty! There is something mesmerizing about watching large snowflakes fall at night... or even in the day for that matter!

08:31 pm: T'was the night before Christmas
The Night Before Christmas

T'was the night before Christmas,
He lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house,
Made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney,
With presents to give,
And to see just who,
In this home did live.

I looked all about,
A strange sight I did see,
No tinsel, no presents,
Not even a tree.

No stocking by the mantle,
Just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures,
Of far distant lands.

With medals and badges,
Awards of all kinds,
A sober thought,
Came through my mind.

For this house was different,
It was dark and dreary,
I found the home of a soldier,
Once I could see clearly.

The soldier lay sleeping,
Silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor,
In this one bedroom home.

The face was so gentle,
The room in such disorder,
Not how I pictured,
A Canadian soldier.

Was this the hero,
Of whom I'd just read?,
Curled up on a poncho,
The floor for a bed?

I realized the families,
That I saw this night,
Owed their lives to these soldiers,
Who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world,
The children would play,
And grownups would celebrate,
A bright Christmas Day.

They all enjoyed freedom,
Each month of the year,
Because of the soldiers,
Like the one lying here.

I couldn't help wonder,
How many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas Eve,
In a land far from home.

The very thought brought
A tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees,
And started to cry.

The soldier awakened,
And I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry.
This life is my choice.

I fight for freedom,
I don't ask for more,
My life is my God,
My country, my corps."

The soldier rolled over,
And drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it,
I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours,
So silent and still,
And we both shivered,
From the cold night's chill.

I didn't want to leave,
On that cold, dark night,
This guardian of honour,
So willing to fight.

Then the soldier rolled over,
With a voice, soft and pure,
Whispered, "Carry on Santa,
It's Christmas Day, all is secure."

One look at my watch,
And I knew he was right,
"Merry Christmas my friend,
And to all a good night."

This poem was written by a peace keeping soldier stationed overseas.

The following is his request. I think it is reasonable.

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favour of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due
to our
Canadian service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we
owe. Make
people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed
themselves
for us.

Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

I've been spending the past week at work, getting my room set up for a new school year! Portables are definitely interesting!

We're also getting ready for Terry's dad and family to come down for a visit next weekend. They're coming to see Cael (aka Bucket)!

Everything happens in September! Including Terry's birthday coming up very soon after his family's visit!

02:20 pm: Kathleen is Big Bird and Elmo!

Which Sesame Street Character Are You?

You are part Big Bird. You are something of an eccentric, and not everyone always gives you credit for your inventiveness and intelligence. You may not always know everything, but people turn to you for your sound, unique logic. Plus, you have a big heart. Really big.
You are part Elmo. You are lovable and ticklish, and always inquisitive. Sometimes, though, your excitement about the world can make you seem childish, naive, and occasionally irritating to others.
